Red Carpet Hair Styles
The
red carpet hairstyles and dress choices over the last couple of weeks
have been the most anticipated and then talked about of the awards
season. With the BAFTA's and Grammy's last weekend and the Brits this
week, there have been many different styles to take inspiration from. We
have all had our favourites here at Headkandy and its been very
interesting to see the red carpet hairstyle trends forming at each
event!
The BAFTA's - The
BAFTA's are often a showcase to the many typically British red carpet
styles. The long sequined gowns are gone, instead classic shapes and
cut dresses make an appearance. We love Bonnie Wright’s polka dot tea
dress, although, it’s not the type of dress you would expect to see on the red carpet! Colour blocking her blue dress with pink and orange shoes makes
the look bang on trend. Her auburn locks had been darkened a little with
a hint of the ombre style to the tips. Fearne
Cotton also looked stunning at the event. Known for wearing outfits
that can be seen as a little kooky and unusual Fearne choose a long
sleeve, coral maxi dress with large bow sash detail. Her hair was simply
stunning, the 1920's inspired bob almost out-shined her dress. Her
red carpet hairstyle was very vintage inspired and the reference back to the 1920's had us thinking about glorious times of past. Her
long bob was loosely finger waved with some backcombing to the
underneath section of the hair - this helps the hair sit perfectly with the shape
of the haircut.The Grammy's -
There was a clear trend on the red carpet last Sunday - Vintage! Carrie Underwood always looks amazing at red carpet events and at this event she looked simply stunning. Her Gomez Gracia sequined silver, backless, floor length gown was perfectly teamed with a simple low pony tail. Her hair had been delicately pinned back at the nape of the neck but it was given lots of lift at the roots.

Another star following
in the red carpet style was Katy Perry. She wore a very similar style Ellie Saab dress in a pastel blue shade and her blue bobbed hair was
sleeked back. Katy's style was lifted a little more than Carries, which gave a kind of vintage quiff feel to her hair-do!
Our favourite of the night was Kelly Osbourne. Often criticised at
these type of events, Kelly was styled to perfection. From the Tony Ward silver one shoulder sequined gown to the
lilac hue of her her; she looked like a 50's bombshell! Her hair was
softly waved and pulled into a deep side fringe - emulating the
Hollywood classic style made famous by Marilyn Monroe. The BRITS -The
Brits are always known for having a more eclectic feel to any other
award show and Jessie J is the perfect example of this eclectic style.
Wearing a stunning red see-through floor length gown. The barley there
dress looked amazing with dark hair that was styled very differently
for Jessie. Her fringe had been swept to the side and her hair finger
waved close to her head. This was then pulled back and the ends were
curled and backcombed so there was plenty of lift and movement to the
style. Adele
followed in the big hair trend choosing a style very similar to her
appearance at the Grammy’s. The singers red carpet hairstyle was very
voluminous at the roots with very bouncy curls added to the tips.
We love Adele’s new shade too, very similar to our hair extensions shade Malibu Blonde :)Our favourite hairstyle from the red caret had to be Pixie Lott. Since Pixie chopped off her long locks, we have been used to seeing her
hair down and straight. Her
style looked very intricate with lots of sectioning and pinning! The
curls added to her side swept fringe gave the style a vintage twist that
looked amazing with her bright red lips and light blonde hair.

Valentine’s Hair Styles
Valentine’s
hair styles can make or break that all important outfit. Whether
meeting up with your girls for a night on the town or spending a
romantic evening in with that special someone you are going to want to
look fabulous! Here at Headkandy we’ve pick out a couple of styles that
can be enhanced with your hair extensions. The Bardot BeehiveThis
style can look super sexy and sultry for your Valentine’s day plans;
the Valentine’s hair style is super easy to do and looks just as
stunning when worn in a half-up half-down style or with the ends of you
hair tied up. Start by fitting your hair extensions a little lower down
than normal and add a little movement to the ends of your hair with a
large barrelled tong or conical wand as this movement adds to the sultry
appeal of the style. Take a section of your hair at the crown of your
head and backcomb this a little. Start then twisting this hair until
your have a bun shape that sits close to your head and pin this in
place. Using the hair from in front of this section, add a little more
backcombing to the roots and pull this hair over your twist. The
backcombed section will help create the rounded shape of the classic
hair style and secure the ends of this underneath the twist to secure
the hair. Run your fingers through the ends and mess these up a little
to give a bed head look or if you prefer your ‘do to look a bit more
styled you can pull all the hair to one side and secure with a few pins. The Low Slung Side PonytailThis
Valentine’s hairstyle looks super hot on all face shapes and adding in
your extensions can give a super thick and long style! Whether you like
to wear your hair super sleek and straight or with cute curls, this
style looks stunning. Fit your hair extensions a little lower than usual
and pull all your hair to one side ... fasten this with an elastic -
If you wear your fringe/bangs swept to the side then pull your hair to
the other side to help balance out the style. Once your ponytail is
secure take a section of hair and wrap around the elastic for a classy
finish. Vintage Inspired WavesSometimes
it’s better to keep your Valentine’s hair styles looking natural.
Adding a little movement to your style can make it super sexy and this
will only take you a few minutes. First start by fitting your extensions
normally and apply some heat protection. Using a conical wand, take
large sections of hair to curl and do this in different directions with
each section moving around your head. Once you have moved all the way
around take a soft brush and gently pull this through all the curls to
soften. If you wanted to glam up this look you can simply pull a section
over your ear and add a sparkly clip for that Hollywood glam feel.

Happy Valentine's Day from HeadKandy xx

Cheryl Cole in New L'oreal Mascara Ads
Cheryl
Cole’s hair looks gorgeous in the new L’oreal mascara advert! Cheryl
has been working with L’oreal for many years now, but she usually
advertises their hair range … whether these are dyes or styling
products, but she has now become the face of their new mascara -
Telescopic!
 Even
though the shoot isn’t for a hair product, Cheryl Cole’s hair still
looks absolutely stunning in these ads!! Cheryl Cole’s hair is now a
gorgeous, natural dark blonde shade with neutral tones, very much like
our Tanned Blonde shade. For the new L’oreal ad, her hair has been
styled into loose and soft, large finger waves. This style looks amazing
on Cheryl’s bob, but this looks amazing on all lengths and is bang on
trend for this seasons styles! It’s super easy to achieve this bang-on
trend hair style using a conical wand and a soft brush; after styling
all your hair with the wand, leave your curls to cool down, spray a
little hairspray on your brush and brush through your curls, this will
make them drop and leave a gorgeous soft wave. The
guidelines have changed recently on advertising mascara and companies
are no longer able to enhance the look with false lashes or
post-production so it’s a little strange seeing Cheryl without her usual
layers of false lashes in the new mascara ad, but she looks stunning in
both the print and television adverts regardless! She appears in some
very daring dresses and this combined with her on-trend hair style gives
her a great look!
In
other Cheryl Cole news, she has recently tweeted a sneaky pic of her
spring/summer shoe range for stylistpick.com and after these L’oreal
pics we can’t wait to see the inevitably girly and glamorous range of
ads for the new shoes!

Faux Bob Hair Tutorial
The
faux bob has been growing in popularity since 2010 and the style keeps
showing up at red carpet events and premieres. This style is great for
trying out one of this seasons styles without the commitment of chopping
off your own locks! There are lots of ways to use your extensions for
volume instead of length and using them in this style is perfect for
achieving the super voluminous look of the faux bob style. Our tutorial
shows just how simple this style can be and how using your HeadKandy hair extensions
can give this look loads of oomph and added definition!!Step 1Using
a conical wand, add some shape to the top layer of your own hair. These
don't have to be perfect curls or done precisely, they are just to add a
little movement to the style! Give a little lift to the hair at the
roots by holding this up and using a little hairspray to hold in place.Step 2Fit
your extensions a little lower down than normal so that these sit in
the straight part of your hair. Using an elastic, secure your hair into a
ponytail and then pull the elastic to the ends of your own hair … this
helps disguise your own hair from your extensions.Step 3Using
pins in the same shade as your hair, tuck the elastic at the nape of
your neck. Tuck away any loose ends of hair up inside your 'bob' and if
you have any lose hair that has fallen out of the elastic pin these
under to help with the faux bob illusion. And that's it! How simple is that?! The faux bob is a perfect night out hairstyle that will take just a few minutes!!

Red Carpet Hair Styles at the 2012 NTA's
Red
carpet hair styles will be be gracing our print and screens for the
next few weeks as the award season is upon us. The Golden Globes kicked
off the award season last week and our very own National Television
Awards followed a few days ago. There were many eclectic and interesting
outfit choices and accompanying hairstyles on the red carpet of the
UK’s first award show of the season. We
loved Holly Willoughby’s take on the vintage hairstyle; Holly always
looks gorgeous, but she added a hint of extra sex appeal to her 50’s
style in a figure hugging floor length black gown. Her red carpet
hairstyle was sophisticated yet girly and suited the style of her dress
perfectly. The simple vintage waves throughout the body of her hair were
large, created with a large barrel tong. They were soft and brushed out
creating gorgeous body and movement. Holly’s deep, side-swept fringe
gave the hairstyle an added vintage feel. Her red carpet hair style was
bang on trend and we think the style looked amazing on Holly. One
of the biggest trends emerging at the awards was a simple updo;
Michelle Keegan, Jessica Wright and Heidi Range were all seen sporting
this simple red carpet hairstyle. All three girls choose gorgeous floor
length gowns, all in very different styles, but all worked with their
similar hairstyles gorgeously!! The hairstyle was pinned back, not in a
bun or a chignon, but pinned at the back of their heads and pulled back
off their faces in small sections. Smaller sections of the hair were
left to frame the face to give a softer style and it looked as though
all the ends of their hair at the back were tucked away leaving a
classy, elegant style. Whilst
there were some toned down red carpet hairstyles there were some who
choose more intricate and interesting styles. Amy Childs choose a very
curled updo; her hair had been pulled to one side and she added medium
sized curls which were pinned into a chignon style. Tulisa, who isn’t
afraid of trying out new styles, choose a large, pinned up style too!
Her hair was scraped tightly back and appeared to be wrapped around
itself; this created a very interesting red carpet hairstyle that
couldn’t be missed! The style looked to be in the shape of a large bun
but with far more detailing than this classic style!Another
celeb to be bang on trend at the red carpet event was Elle Macpherson.
She choose a high styled ponytail to accompany her high neck dress. The
ponytail was super thick and had a little curl through the lengths for
added movement. Elle also added a braid around the base of the ponytail
which gave the look a girly twist.
