Bouffant Ponytail

So with many of you going back to school and the Fashion Weeks beginning, we thought we’d come up with a hair tutorial that intertwines both aspects, so say hey to the bouffant ponytail!

Bouffant Ponytail

This hairstyle is a perfect combination of Fashion Week hair trends and an easy peasy hairstyle that you can quickly do before school or work for a super chic look! Perfecto! We’re going to be styling the bouffant ponytail low as we love it this way, but you can wear it higher if you like.

Bouffant Ponytail

Step One:

If your hair is a little on the short/thin side be sure to fit your hair extensions before you start this hairstyle to add extra length and thickness. Ensure that your extensions are not fitted higher than the top of your ear as you will need to backcomb the top section of the hair later on!

Step Two:

Once you have fitted your hair extensions, you need to backcomb the top section of your own hair to create the bouffant to add that Fashion Week vibe into your hairstyle! Taking your comb/backcombing brush, start at the back of your hair near to the crown. Use your comb to section off the top layer of hair and backcomb the section underneath; once backcombed, spritz with hairspray and leave to dry before brushing it down (be warned, it may look a little wild whilst you are backcombing, but the end result will be super smooth). Backcomb the top section but do this quite lightly as this section will be used to smooth over the backcombed section underneath. Repeat this step on both sides ensuring the top section of hair is backcombed lightly so the overall look of the hairstyle is nice and smooth.

Step Three:

Now that your hair is backcombed and the hairspray has set, all that is left to do is to pull it back neatly into a low ponytail. Use your backcombing brush to smooth out any fly-aways whilst you are pulling it back and secure in place with a thin hair band.

Step Four:

You then need to take a small strand from the underneath of your bouffant ponytail and wrap it around the base of your ponytail so the hair band is hidden. Secure this piece of hair again underneath the base of the ponytail with a bobby pin.

Step Five:

This next step is optional (and if you have time before school hehe) but we just LOVE adding some soft curls throughout the ponytail to thicken it up even more and add extra texture! Be sure to be SUPER careful when doing this as you don’t want to mess up your bouffant so curling with curling tongs may be easier as it won’t pull on your hair as much. :) Brush through the curls to soften them for a boho chic look.

Finally, to finish off, gently pull a few pieces of hair down to frame your face and voila! You’re ready to go...♥

So what do you think of this bouffant ponytail hairstyle ladies? We think it’s perfect for school, date nights, or a catch up with your girl friends! Let us know your thoughts on Twitter and if you re-create this hairdo we’d LOVE to see some piccies!!
